I have a fountain that is being repaired. It will take entirely too much work to completely remove all the paint. Any chips or cracks are being repaired, but now that the pieces are about finished, I am ready to paint. The problem is that nobody can give me a definite answer about which paint will bond to cement (cast stone) as well as previously painted surfaces. I bought some pool paint from Lowe’s that recommended sanding any previously painted surfaces with 80 grit prior to using. I was going to paint this fountain with at least 3 coats of this stuff and ensure that it completely drys between application. I was also considering one last coat with a sealer, but I have no idea about that either. Will my plan work, or can you make some suggestions. I’m looking to hear from a professional in paint or painting ponds/fountains/pools. Thanks.

I thought he was dead….but after i picked him up he stuck his head out for a second, took a breath…..and then put his head back down on my hand like he had no energy. Usually we have the turtles in a pond ouside….but about 3 months ago we made a pond in the house fo rthem during the winter months incase the pond would freeze all the way to the bottom. I put him in a lil cage by himself for about 25 hours and now he’s fine. This is the 2nd time this has happened. Could it be that he’s trying to go into hybernation? Do i need to raise the Temp. in the pond to prevent this?

you have to seal a cement pond so the lime doesnt leach out and kill the fish, I know about pond shield (epoxy) and the rubber paint but those are both expensive ($70-$125). Is there anything else I can use that wont leach chemicals out and harm the fish?
pool paint requires the concrete to sit for 60 days, my concrete is only about 3 weeks old. I know a masonry sealant would work but my town doesnt have any, not even at wal mart.

They begin with bulging eyes and appear bloated around the belly and then die within a day. About a month ago we resurfaced the pond with a pond paint that is supposed to be safe for fish, is this a disease or could it be a problem with their new environment?
